Hello internet & my wonderful Deamwidth/Live Journal family. I know that in some cases, we are strangers—but I would like to ask you a favor.

My father-in-law, Mark A. Pence is currently in the hospital a bit under the weather. Could you help me cheer him up by sending him an e-mail and saying hi? You can send email to him by going here:https://www.health-first.org/applications/ecards/index.cfm send it to Mark Pence, Room D531 at Holmes

Good News: If you didn't catch that last post, we got a 2010 Kia Soul last sunday. Here are some cell phone pics!

Bad News: I'm for all intents and purposes, a diabetic right now. I also have horrificly bad cholesterol. I have been prescribed Metformin, 3 times a day with meals to hopefully help control it and officially on a lifestyle change. No fruits what-so-ever these three months (too much sugar), obviously, no sugar, no "white foods", if possible but lots of lean meats and veggies ahoy.

Good News: The dr. seems positive I have FattyFatFat Diabetes and that there's a good chance if I suck it up, buttercup, change my eating habits and lose weight I might cure myself.

Bad News: I also have high enough blood pressure that I am now on Lisinopril, once a day.

Good News: If I become less fattyfatfat the Dr. also believes my blood pressure might improve.

And that's pretty much it for now. I'm off to go help prepare for Thanksgiving tomorrow at the in-laws.

In bullet time:

  • Got a mammogram last week. Didn't get a call back until two days ago. They found something they aren't 100% sure of on my right boulder, so they want me back in to do an ultra sound/breast compress. They must not be very worried, they scheduled that two weeks from now.

  • Go to Orlando Friday to get my second set of Biometerics for immigration. (Fingerprinting AGAIN). This is the second set of fingerprints. I will more than likely have to go get a third when I apply for full citizenship.

  • Saving up for a house is hard. We haven't managed to put anything away this year, but we did manage to update A LOT of computer stuff. Our second, larger SSD drives will arrive in time for SWTOR and I couldn't be happier.

  • I have high blood pressure. The Dr. said before he wants to even think of medicating, I am to buy a BP monitor and keep records. Have been doing so.

  • Dr. also said drop as much of the carbohydrates as possible. Am trying ; ; It's hard and I am basically hungry all the time right now.

  • Last thing to get out of the way is Lady Bits. But it has to wait again because our money's tied up in Dr.s

  • Teeth cleaning coming up soon too. Augh.

  • I HAVE PUT UP ALL THE CHRISTMAS THINGS IN MY HOUSE AND I DON'T CARE WHAT ANYONE SAYS I LOVE IT. <3 All caps for excitement! Christmas is coming! Which means a Who Wants A Mel Christmas Card post + Wish list exchange post is coming up.

  • Created a Holiday wish: hoping for $200 raised from now until Jan 1st for Diabetes.

  • Planning and writing HUGE December event for RDI, this time ON PURPOSE and with ENTHUSIASM and less FEAR

  • NaNoWriMo word count sits at 3707 on day 2. I thinks that's just spiffy and look forward to winning another year.

  • If you'd like to read what I've written so far, I have them up at D.A.

I also have a huge list of writing resources for fellow NaNoWriMo writers, and they can be found here: http://epicureanpoetry.deviantart.com/journal/#/d4eqtha

Also spending way too much time on Google+ and Tumblr.

    P.S, have these:

Hi Live Journal/ Dream Journal. I am bad at keeping up with you now--did I miss anything?--forgive me?

Since I posted this on my Google+ and my Facebook, I decided to post this here, too.

Sorry about that, Live Journal :( But compared to the instantaneous nature of Google+ and such, I'm sort of distracted from you right now. I still love you, though.

Also, I am really hoping we get kids this Halloween. We didn't get a single visitor last year :(

Dear internets, Live Journal, Dream Journal and random people,

    I need your help.

I suck at organizing. My idea of organizing is to scrub it clean then to find a kitchen or a cabinet I can shove it into out of sight and calling it good enough. This, obviously, with five birds, two cats and two disorganized geeks with a 1 bedroom apartment AND their computer desks in the living room--isn't exactly the best game plan.

And since we'll be looking to stay here for the next 2-4 years saving up for a house, the lack of room is starting to make my teeth twitchy.

When we moved in, we junked everything we could--old clothing, knick knacks, kitchen appliances, shoes, you name it--if it hadn't been used in the last year it went into a garbage bag or to goodwill.

So we basically have everything we can hold and don't want to chuck...but it always feels cluttered to me. I did some browsing on organizing and ideas for small spaces--but honestly a lot of it boils down to spending money to make, build, or buy something to put things in--and I wouldn't have a problem with that if some of these ideas weren't so ridiculously expensive. Seriously, I found my eyebrows climbing so high they spun around on the back of my head at some of these pre-made "organizer" ideas and products.

So I'm asking for your ideas and help, cost effective ideas and help. I can't tear things down, I can't replace the cabinetry (It's an apartment), I can't build on to anything already here--but surely there are tricks and tips to keeping the clutter organized. Different ways to hang the stuff on my wall, ways to arrange the furniture, hand-made DIY's to make the space seem....spacier and the small seem...bigger?

Have some low quality pics of my clutter and dirt:

What have you done to help your small spaces look bigger with moderate success?
