The potato salad is sitting in the fridge, the sugarless Boston cream pie along side it.

It's odd, the cake turned out both better than what I assumed it would and in a way, worse. I find it funny that I have been using a sugar substitute for so long that I've grown accustomed to the taste, until I baked with it today.

I was surprised and rather quite pleased at how well the chocolate glaze worked out with nothing more than three squares of unsweetened bakers chocolate, milk, and sweetener. The consistency is correct, it's the aftertaste and the fact I could, in fact, taste it that made me blink.

Though I should have known that cooking with that much sweetener as opposed to the single spoonful used would obviously have a different flavor.

We shall beat Florida's top soil and plant a garden that shall ROCK. And ROCK HARD. Here's what the tentative list of things I want to grow:
I love you and put the list of things behind this cut! )

As you can see, the list is overwhelmingly herbs and that's mostly what we want. I find that the more I cook lately, the more I am wanting fresher and fresher ingredients in our food. Honestly, not because it's super healthy simply that fresh tastes so good!

I'm really looking forward to this, despite how badly it could go. :p

The dinner went far better than I expected. The cake itself turned out excellent, Shawn's father really liked it. Though again, the consistency of the it wasn't so much "cake," as it was a sweetened fluffy bread.

Everyone had a piece, half of it left over.

Grandma Ruth, Shawn's grandma started off with only one slice of the Grilled Mushroom salad subs, saying she only wanted a very small piece. The woman's four foot tall in heels and I believe has been on a diet since she sprang from the womb.

She ate the small piece, and had a second, as well as having a piece of tuna and a sliver of the chicken breasts we prepared. (In case no one liked what we cooked. The chicken remained untouched mostly, which is a good sign.)

Now I'm full and pleased that everyone liked it. Here's the drink:

4 cups water
4 cups Club Soda
4 lemons, sliced
1/2 cup of mint leaves
1 pint of blackberries
1 cup sugar or sweetener equivalent (I substituted sugar with sweetener, and it tasted AWESOMES. )

Slice lemons and place in container of choice with black berries and mint leaves. Pour sugar or sweetener over bottom and muddle with wooden spoon. (Smash' em, mix em, squish 'em.) Pour water and Club soda, refrigerate before hand if desired.
