Belated: First Watercolor of the Year

So yeah, in other, "Mel is the worst about updating social media and blogs," last year I took up learning watercolor. It comes and it goes. I'm trying hard to keep at it. This was the first one for 2021 done very early this Jan.

Watercolor is a tough medium, so good for you for tackling it head on! I love the colors here. The contrast with the trees is very striking. What did you use for the "starry" effect in the sky? Is that a resist?

Thank you very much! I used gouache paint watered down a tiny bit and an old toothbrush, then splattered the white! Sometimes I dip a brush and then tap on it to also splatter it.
